I was never that fond of western movies as a kid. The Good the Bad & the Ugly i think is the only western i did like, and still i do.
Allthough i did not watch that kind of movies that much, i didn't know any better than that the 'bad guys' with beautifull clothes and feathers were called Indians.
So i grew up with this idea. But at some point i found out that the name 'Indian' really is a mistake.
And as i learned on my 'travels' i discovered there are Natives who don't bother the name 'Indian'. Out of respect for the native people of America i use the 'Native American'. But i recently discovered that in fact i just don't know.
Does the Native American want to be called that way at all?
And how do you feel when a white dude use the term 'Indian' to name you?
I know there are more heavy stuff going on in the world to worry about, yet i hope someone, a Native American, wants to tell of how you feel about this.
Thank you.

Alvie, I am not Native but I still wish to make a comment to your post. I like how in Canada, the Native people refer to themselves as "First Nations". Natives in America should use that term, too. Those words really leave a lasting impression or effect, when you hear it spoken or when you read them. That is just my opinion

`Hello Alvie
Well, much of the older Native population still use the term Indian to refer to themselves and refer to our Indigenous territories as "Indian Country", while much of the younger Native population prefers to call themselves Indigenous or Native American and refer to our Indigenous territories as "Native America". Unless you're in Canada in which most of the Native population prefer the term "First Nations". And there are the Native population from Mexico to South America who may despise the term Indian and hate being labeled "Latino". So I guess it depends on the region or generation, lol.
